Rives Construction’s latest project for the Birmingham Zoo, Cougar Crossing, recently received a 2025 ABC of Alabama Excellence in Construction 1st Place (Obelisk) Award. Cougar Crossing, a 13,800-square-foot habitat for orphaned and rescued cougars and bobcats, includes two outdoor enclosures and an indoor space with dens and keeper training and work rooms. The project was designed with special consideration for the safety and security of the cougars and bobcats. Rives was proud to partner with the zoo and the architect to further the zoo’s mission of inspiring passion to conserve the natural world.
