Rives Construction served as the general contractor for Cougar Crossing, a milestone project that coincided with the Birmingham Zoo’s 70th anniversary. The 13,800-square-foot habitat for orphaned and rescued cougars and bobcats includes two outdoor enclosures as well as indoor dens and keeper work and training areas. The project presented a unique challenge of relocating an early mass burial site with dignity and respect. The project also required careful planning and construction for animal safety and wellbeing. The result is a project that will educate visitors about two native species to Alabama for years to come.
